You don't have to choose between grief and happiness

Me and my dad Antonio… <3

It's been some tough weeks, some of the most challenging weeks in my life, and I had a lot of time to think about life with all included, grief and happiness, since my father is very sick with a brain tumor.

I’m writing this, because it's important to be vulnerable and vulnerability isn't the same thing as weakness. And I'm writing this since I would like to share some of the things that help me to allow myself to live, even in this hard time of life, and I hope it can help you as well!

When life is challenging us it often makes us surprised, it’s unexpected. Why me?

But what I do know, is that each and every one of you that is reading this, have gone through challenges and sorrow in life. Right? .
So I came to understand that when challenges and grief happen in our lives, it's not an exception, it's a part of life.

During these days I realised that you don't have to choose between grief and happiness, you can have both, at the same time, and they don't compete with each other, they are there and can be present at the same time.
To feel happiness for things, doesn't mean that you don't feel grief about other things.

But no matter grief or happiness, love is always present and unconditional.
To give love, unconditionally with no expectations, will bring you peace, in your heart and soul.
To choose the conversations in life when your heart is in peace and not war. And to put your feet in someone else's shoes and try to understand them even when it's hard to.

To accept things doesn't mean that we aren't allowed to feel sad or frustrated at moments. But in hard times I do believe that it's important to understand that it's not about moving on, it's about moving forward in life, in grief and in happiness.

Live life with all that’s included. Give love and speak the language of love out loud and often because you can. Appreciate not once but always.
